Conference in Carinthia – Mario Gerber: “We have to allow the economy again!”

The economic ministers of all nine federal states met for a conference. In an interview with the “Krone”, Tyrol’s minister Mario Gerber highlighted three important points. At the top of the list is a declaration that was signed unanimously.

A meeting of economic representatives from all nine federal states took place in Carinthia on Friday. What Tyrol’s State Economic Council is particularly pleased about is “that we have unanimously signed a declaration for Austria as a location in which we speak out against excessive guidelines and excessive regulations.” Specifically, it’s about reducing bureaucracy and eliminating virtually meaningless laws that make it more difficult for entrepreneurs to do business. Pronounced for standard working hours “We have to allow economics again, it ensures prosperity in our country,” said Gerber. In the declaration, the speakers also advocate for standard working hours (except for people with caring responsibilities) as well as easing the red-white-red card in order to combat the labor shortage. “This is the only way Tyrol can remain competitive,” Gerber is convinced. More speed is required for Cofag payments. Second important issue according to the state council: “We have worked to ensure that Cofag’s outstanding payments are finally paid out. The coalition partner has blocked this at the federal level.” Thirdly, Gerber, who is also the State Tourism Councilor, emphasizes that “we have asked Economics Minister Martin Kocher that employee apartments of tourism companies are no longer only exempt from benefits in kind up to a size of 30 square meters.” In order to attract employees to tourism, high-quality accommodation is needed.
