The trial against a retired official from the Klagenfurt City Treasury is scheduled for five days – but the trial may start with a bang today: As the “Krone” learned, the man’s confession could be in the room. According to the indictment, he is said to have made a total of 170 cash withdrawals from accounts in the city of Klagenfurt between 1997 and February 2019 in order to keep the money to himself.

Up to ten years imprisonment
According to the prosecution, he availed himself 106 more times directly from the city coffers. In total, damage of 1.76 million euros was incurred; for this they face up to ten years imprisonment. So far the accused had not confessed to being responsible; This could change now.
