Confidential information about the Russian covid vaccine Sputnik V leaks on a hacker forum

A hacker has uploaded a medical database of Russia’s covid vaccine. These would be tests carried out and shared with a research institute in Moscow.

Russia is no longer safe from hackers. A member of a famous forum frequented by hackers posted a database on March 13, claiming that it is confidential data on the Russian anti-covid vaccine, named Sputnik. The leak would come from an exchange of emails with research institutes, since the discussions are in English.

In the documents, you can observe the names of the deceased, the schedules, the budget, the financing of the development phases of the vaccines, the treaties with the governments, the quality of the vaccines and other documents of internal interest, as as scientists in charge of vaccine development says the hacker in his post. A sample posted on the forum evokes the death of one of the first patients tested in Egypt. Other deaths have been reported in Ghana, according to the files. The rest of the database is available for free from a link provided in the ad.

An unpopular vaccine

Comments on the forum indicate that the documents come from the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya in Moscow. ” At first glance, they seem to refer to clinical trials and information exchange with other centers adds another member.

Moscow had presented Sputnik as “the world’s first registered COVID-19 vaccine” in 2020. However, its international deployment has not met with the expected success, including in Russia. The fault is the lack of data from clinical trials and the fears of the population that the authorization was granted hastily.

There is no political claim around this leak. The hacker responsible for the leak continues to publish hacked data, including against Russia.
