Confinement: Jeanne, resident of Ehpad who had moved France and Emmanuel Macron, gives her news: Current Woman The MAG

In April 2020, France was confined for the first time in many weeks already. As part of the fight against Covid-19, Emmanuel Macron had taken a historic decision: to limit the movements of the French to reduce the spread of the virus. A upheaval for millions of citizens but particularly for nursing home residents who, overnight, could no longer receive visits from their loved ones. On April 20, 2020, the journal of 20 hours of France 2 had collected the testimony of Jeanne, one of them. The nonagenarian, very weak and saddened, had declared facing the camera: "I can't even go to my neighbor's house. We can't even discuss. I'm locked in there all day. It's not a life at 97! We could see each other from time to time. Chat a little bit."Suffering such as Jeanne no longer ate or even a little: "I force myself otherwise my children grumble". His testimony had upset many celebrities, including Cyril Féraud, but also in the highest spheres of politics since Emmanuel Macron had sent him a letter.

Jeanne does not remember having read Emmanuel Macron's letter!

On Friday March 19, 2021, almost a year after this report, the teams of C to You (France 5) have heard from Jeanne. Still a resident of the same nursing home, the old lady is doing much better! "Now, my children, they come here, before they did not come", she rejoiced. But Jeanne especially evoked the emotion provoked by her intervention: "I had letters from it! Even from Belgium!". However, the nonagenarian does not remember having received a letter from the Head of State: "I have received so many letters! He must have written, yes (…) Or it is not him, probably his secretary". A touch of humor which proves that Jeanne has rediscovered the joy of living, especially since recently, her husband Maurice is also a resident of the same nursing home and shares his meals with her. Enough to bring back a smile to all those who had been touched by his terrible loneliness.
