Connected objects: TP-Link in turn adopts the Matter protocol

If its finalization took a little longer than expected, the first version of the Matter protocol for the connected home was finally formalized at the beginning of this month of October and it should be possible to take advantage of it with many devices from the start. end of the year. In any case, many manufacturers are preparing updates, like Signify, which announced last year the arrival of Matter on the Philips Hue Bridge. More recently, Netatmo, Google and Samsung have in turn announced their integration plan for the new protocol.

Today, brands continue to join the movement. This is the case of TP-Link with its products from the Tapo range. There are many connected objects such as sockets, sensors, light bulbs or even surveillance cameras, which should therefore soon receive an update. Not all, however, are affected.

As a reminder, version 1.0 of the Matter protocol does not concern all connected objects. Security cameras, for example, do not yet have the option of integrating the ecosystem and will therefore always have to be controlled with the application of their respective manufacturer. On the other hand, it should become possible to control the objects updated to support Matter with the same application regardless of their brand, and to imagine new interactions.

On its blog, TP-Link also shares a list of manufacturers that support Matter or will soon.

This is the case of the Nuki brand, which we know of course Digital for testing several connected locks, including the Nuki Smart Lock 3.0. A demonstration video shows how the Nuki smart lock, an Apple HomePod, a Google Nest Hub, an iPhone and an Android smartphone communicate with each other via Matter.
