The government has launched a major “thermostat plan” to encourage households to acquire this device. It saves energy and therefore money. The plan covers three areas: financial assistance for the installation of a thermostat, a communications campaign and a promotional campaign for brands that sell these devices. This thermostat plan comes following the announcement of the obligation for households to have a thermostat in their home, before January 1, 2027.
Will government assistance cover all thermostat installation expenses?
In addition to the brand reductions and the communication campaign, one of the great advantages of this thermostat plan is the financial assistance. Concretely, if a household decides to install new connected, programmable and remotely controlled radiator buttons, then it could benefit from this assistance from December 1st.
This is a new “helping hand” to help with connected heating control. According to BFMTV, which cites the AFP, this aid will depend on the heated surface area in a home. For accommodation of less than 35m2, the boost could be 260 euros and up to 624 euros for an area of at least 130 m2. Ugly “will cover up to 80% of the price of the new connected thermostat“, noted Ekwateur.
How much does a thermostat cost?
According to the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe), a programmable thermostat costs between €60 and €250 and allows you to “achieve up to 15% economy of heating“. But to these costs, you must add installation labor because you cannot do it yourself. To be eligible for the help, it must be installed by a professional.
Who can claim this boost?
Help with installing a thermostat concerns all homes that operate with individual heating. This represents 85% of housing in France (compared to 9.9% with collective heating and 5% connected to a heating network), according to TF1which quotes the AFP.
There are no resource requirements to be eligible; you will need to complete an energy saving certificate application or seek help from your energy supplier.
