According to Alertswiss, a rock fall occurred on the Axenstrasse between Flüelen and Sisikon (UR) shortly before 10 p.m.
Axenstrasse was closed on this section. There were no injuries, as the canton of Uri announced on Saturday evening.
According to initial findings, the road and bridge were not damaged.
As soon as the weather permits, the situation will be assessed on site by specialists, the canton’s statement continued.

Due to the current weather situation, further incidents cannot be ruled out. For safety reasons, Axenstrasse will therefore remain closed to traffic between the Flüelen roundabout and the Wolfsprung junction until further notice.
As soon as further information is available, the Federal Roads Office (Astra) will provide information. Access from the south to Tellsplatte and from the north to Sisikon and Riemenstalden are guaranteed. It is recommended to follow the signals and avoid the closed Axenstrasse via the Seelisbergtunnel and Lucerne.
The Office for Operation of National Roads, specialists from the Federal Roads Office, a private security service, the Schwyz cantonal police and the Uri cantonal police are on duty.
