(Boursier.com) — lesfurets, the leading constrained expenses comparator, publishes the results of the 4th wave of its “Constrained Expenses” Index, produced in partnership with CSA Research. This index makes it possible to assess the evolution of the “basket” of constrained expenses for each household, like the INSEE consumer price index.

Due to inflation, the index is rising sharply this yearrising from 100 in 2020 (year 0) to 117 in 2022, with notable disparities according to population categories.

For the first time, the French were also asked about the weight of their leisure subscriptions in their monthly budget…

Among the results of this new edition:

On average, the French spend 1,095 euros / month for their constrained expensesthat is 35% of their average net monthly income.

Among the most affected French people, the poor categories spend 1,017 euros / month for their constrained expenses. This represents 80% of their average net monthly income.

On the contrary, the constrained expenses among the high-income categories weigh 1,209 euros / month, i.e. only 17% of their average net monthly income.

Young people aged 18-24 are also bearing the brunt of the economic situation: each month, they spend an average of 1,076 euros on their restricted expenses (+256 euros vs 2021), i.e. 51% of their average net income.

For the first time when asked about the weight of their leisure subscriptions in their monthly budget, the French say they spend an average of 41 euros per month on it.

Among these subscriptions, video streaming (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+…) is the favorite of the French: 34% of them say “that they could not do without it”…
