Consumption Ceiling and validity of restaurant tickets: what will change in a week

For lunch this afternoon, in the absence of a canteen or a company restaurant, you may have been counting on your restaurant vouchers: restaurant ticket, lunch voucher, restaurant pass, etc.

Their terms changed precisely at the end of February, with in particular the end of the temporary derogations adopted in June 2020, and extended several times, to support activity in the sector in the midst of a health crisis. We take stock of the changes that take place on March 1st.

2022 tickets only

You’d better take a look at your wallet to make sure there isn’t a 2021 ticket left at the bottom: it’s not too late to use it yet, but time is running out. Passes from last year can only be used until February 28, next Monday.

If you know in advance that you will not have the opportunity to use your remaining tickets or that you have too many left, you can always exchange them free of charge for 2022 tickets with your employer.

The daily ceiling reduced to 19 euros

A measure should however help you to liquidate your remaining meal vouchers in one week: the daily ceiling increased to 38 euros instead of 19 euros also remains valid until February 28. You can thus use up to four tickets of 9.50 euros simultaneously against only two normally.

This ceiling increased to 38 euros concerns restaurants, fast food establishments, self-service establishments, restaurants in hotels and brasseries offering a catering offer. Tickets can also be used for click and collect or for deliveries of dishes sold by these establishments and are generally accepted in bakeries.

However, the daily ceiling remains at 19 euros in supermarkets or food stores.

What can you buy in stores with meal vouchers?

As a reminder, the vouchers are valid for the purchase of immediately consumable food (cooked meals, prepared salads, sandwiches) or which will be used to prepare the employee’s meal (fruits and vegetables, dairy products, etc.).

Each store brand sets its own list of products payable by meal voucher. There may therefore be differences from one brand to another.

The week only

Another derogation which ends on February 28: the validity of meal vouchers on weekends and public holidays. If you have a lot of tickets left, this is the last weekend to go to a restaurant and save 38 euros on your bill!
