Kimmich is threatened with quarantine again
A few days ago Joshua Kimmich tested himself out of quarantine, now the next failure is looming. The FC Bayern footballer was in contact with a suspected corona case – if this suspicion is confirmed, the unvaccinated Kimmich is now missing from his club after the national team.

First the turbulent international game phase with four cases and some quarantine orders – and now the renewed alarm for vaccination skeptic Joshua Kimmich: Bayern Munich’s coach Julian Nagelsmann is increasingly dealing with the annoying issue of Covid-19. “It annoys and occupies you. Nobody asks anything about Augsburg, we only talk about the pandemic,” said Nagelsmann before the Bundesliga derby on Friday (8.30 p.m. / DAZN and in the live ticker at ntv.de) at FC Augsburg and added emphatically to: “I am a trainer and not employed as a pandemic officer.” It is only about “2G and 3G. Especially not the record champions after Kimmich is threatened with isolation again. According to Nagelsmann, the 26-year-old had contact with a suspected corona case in his private life. The fact that Kimmich was absent from the final training session on Thursday was a “pure precaution,” said Nagelsmann. But you have to wait for the PCR results first.
In the worst case, Kimmich, who has so far refused to be vaccinated against Covid-19, would have to stay at home again as a contact person. The duration is open. The midfielder had recently had to isolate himself for a few days in the Corona case of his teammate Niklas Süle and was therefore already out for the international matches against Liechtenstein and in Armenia.
“Always problem cases”
The consequences of such a clash are for unvaccinated people like Kimmich – for whom a quarantine is ordered with appropriate follow-up via the health department – than for vaccinated people. Regular tests and contact reduction after contact with an infected person are recommended, but quarantine is not required.
Therefore Nagelsmann appealed again urgently to Kimmich and Co. to get vaccinated. The risk is “on the platter. The numbers are frightening. We notice it for ourselves too. There are always problem cases”. As a matter of fact. For days, FC Bayern has been massively affected in preparation for the Augsburg game. Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting were isolated from Süle as contact persons. In addition to Süle, Josip Stanisic and two supervisors who tested positive were also caught.
At least the fuss about the accommodation in Augsburg could be cleared. “Working people are allowed into the hotel. We don’t have to find any individual solutions,” said Nagelsmann. In addition to Süle and Stanisic, the Bayern coach has to do without Kingsley Coman because of muscular problems. But at least Leon Goretzka, who had to be replaced against Liechtenstein after a brutal kick in the neck, is ready for action again. Alphonso Davies and Choupo-Moting are in the squad after exhausting international trips with Canada and Cameroon, respectively, but Nagelsmann ruled out a start from the start.
