Containment in Île-de-France: what are the possible scenarios?

Faced with the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic, new health measures should be taken this Wednesday, March 17, 2021, in particular for the Île-de-France region. Jean Castex announced this Tuesday March 16, 2021 to BFMTV: "The time has come to consider arrangements for the Ile-de-France region." So what fate awaits Ile-de-France residents in the days to come?

Towards a weekend confinement?

When Prime Minister Jean Castex spoke to BFMTV, he referred to health measures on the model of those introduced in Nice or even in Dunkirk in recent weeks: "Reconfining the weekend is a guess." A speech whose intention is to prepare the minds of Ile-de-France residents. As a reminder, the incidence rate is now above 400, a threshold recently set by Jean Castex, and the occupancy rate of intensive care beds has exceeded 100% in the Ile-de-France region. But would confinement on the weekend be enough?

Towards confinement 7 days a week

If Emmanuel Macron has somehow rejected the idea of confinement, he is considering "to take new decisions in the coming days", although "in an appropriate and proportionate manner." Sure BFMTV, journalist Thomas Soulié mentioned the second option considered by the government: "The hard option is a lockdown 7 days a week of the capital region … But with the schools open. Clearly, it would be the lockdown that the French experienced in November", he explains before recalling that we would not be "Safe from a surprise from the chef."

It has been a year since the coronavirus pandemic changed our daily lives. It remains to be seen whether a positive development is possible for the months to come.
