Continent of wonder – “Africa! Africa!” with a new show in Salzburg

A ten-piece band plays live on the “first floor”. She sings, drums, dances and just has a lot of fun. Basketball players are now flying through the air in the arena. A man throws and catches twelve tennis balls at the same time. Afterwards you can see human pyramids stacked right up to the circus tent.

This is competitive sport and body control at the highest level. Not surprising when you consider that many of the more than 50 artists come from the country with the most circus schools. But it’s not just acrobats from Ethiopia that enchant in “Africa! Africa!” the audience. “We want to present a life-affirming, colorful and hopeful side of Africa with our show.”We want to bring joy to people’s hearts.”We want to bring joy to people’s hearts,” emphasizes chief choreographer Georges Momboye. Which succeeded. Because André Heller’s fascinating circus extravaganza is one of the greatest successes in international show business of the last 20 years. The new show “Africa! Afrika!” has its Salzburg premiere on Friday and will be on the circus meadow at the exhibition center until March 3rd. There will be performances in the afternoon and evening.
