EM hero Donnarumma moves to Paris

The newly crowned European champion Donnarumma signs a contract with Paris St. Germain until 2026. Despite several offers from AC Milan, Donnarumma decides not to extend his contract in Italy and is initially without a club. At PSG he is just one of many well-known newcomers.

The change of Italy’s national soccer goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan to Paris Saint-Germain is perfect. The 22-year-old European champion signed a contract with the Champions League finalists from 2020 until 2026, as PSG announced. Donnarumma was named the best player of the tournament at the European Championships. In the final of the European Championship against England he had saved two penalties and thus secured Italy’s 3-2 victory on penalties.

He made his Serie A debut at the age of 16 and has since played 251 games for the Rossoneri. His greatest success so far in club football was winning the Super Cup in the 2016/17 season. Despite several offers from the AC, the goalkeeper had decided not to extend his contract in Italy.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino’s million-dollar squad has big plans this season and was very prominent even before Donnarumma was signed. For example, the ex-Dortmund Achraf Hakimi came from Inter Milan for around 60 million euros. In addition, the French runner-up was able to secure the services of the Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum from Liverpool FC and Real legend Sergio Ramos for free.
