Now it’s finally official: Zoran Barišić signed a contract as head coach of SK Rapid just in time for the first Bundesliga game in 2023!
Formally, the Viennese was “only” in office as an interim successor to Ferdinand Feldhofer, who was fired in October, with his contract as sports director that would have run until the end of the 2023/24 season. Now the contract was converted according to the tasks as a coach – with a term until June 2025. “I really enjoy the coaching job at my club and it makes me proud to do it. Within our club there is a great deal of trust among the responsible personalities, which is why we didn’t have any time pressure internally to sign the contract with all the formal details,” said Barišić. He is excited about the upcoming tasks and is optimistic “that we will bring a lot of joy to the countless Rapid fans in the coming months and years”. Rapid President Alexander Wrabetz is also very happy. He and his team for the election of the new Rapid management had already made it clear before the general meeting in autumn “that we plan long-term with Zoki Barišić as head coach”. It is therefore only logical that a contract has now been fixed that will initially run until the end of the 2024/25 season. “I’m looking forward to continuing to work together and I’m convinced that we’ve found the ideal solution for our club.” Rapid’s managing director Steffen Hofmann was at least as pleased with the fixing of the new contract for Barišić as Barišić himself and Wrabetz: “Me I’ve known Zoki for almost 17 years and know from personal experience that he was born to be a coach!” that with his expertise and great social skills he will again form our team into the unit that is necessary to play football successfully”.
