Rupert Murdoch, the Australian-American media mogul who inspired the hit series “Succession”, launches TalkTV. This television channel declines its TalkRadio station. Between a promise of “outspokenness” and an interview with Donald Trump, TalkTV is part of the media DNA of the billionaire accustomed to scandals.

Businessman Rupert Murdoch launches his television channel: TalkTV. At 91, this owner of the tabloid The Sun and the American channel Fox News launched Monday evening TalkTV, a television channel built around the video version of TalkRadio. The controversial Australian-American media magnate, known for making scandal and sex his business, more than for his journalistic ethics, inspired the plot of the series Succession. TalkTV seems to be part of the ultra-conservative and sulphurous editorial line cultivated by Rupert Murdoch.

The slogan of this new channel gives us the tone of the programs: Straight talking start here, outspokenness starts here, in French. This channel was in fact designed to give information similar to that which can be read in the tabloids, those tabloids which the English love. TalkTV viewers will be able to find news programs as well as celebrity scoops and entertainment. The channel will notably be hosted by journalists from the Sun and Times.

Exclusive interview with Donald Trump

Six programs have been launched since Monday. The main one, the one on which the channel is betting, is the program called Piers Morgan Uncensored. It is hosted by star Piers Morgan, who received £50 million to embody the channel for three years. Monday evening, Piers Morgan Uncensored broadcast an exclusive interview with Donald Trump. Piers Morgan’s program will also air in the US on Fox Nation and in Australia on Sky News Australia. Two chains that belong to Rupert Murdoch.

TalkTV also broadcasts The Talk, a talk show airing at 9 p.m. in which several journalists and columnists discuss celebrity news around a table. This program is led by host and businesswoman Sharon Osbourne. TalkTV is also available live on streaming platforms like Apple TV, and on YouTube. As of Wednesday morning, TalkTV’s YouTube channel already had 299,000 subscribers.
