Controversial ski crash – accident victim: “I was unconscious on the ski slope”

A German teenager rammed Peter Fuschlberger on a ski slope. Witnesses watched. And yet the accident becomes a dispute – with a completely uncertain outcome. . .

Peter Fuschlberger cannot remember the accident. “I didn’t move anymore and was unconscious after the collision,” says the Flachgau resident. Nevertheless, the course of the accident seems clear – two witnesses and Fuschlberger’s wife can describe what happened exactly. And yet the pensioner has been waiting for compensation since that fateful January 28, 2022. “I haven’t received a cent so far,” says Fuschlberger, frustrated. Fractures, whiplash, crush injuries. What exactly happened? The Thalgauer was on his last day of skiing on a slope in Dorfgastein. “Suddenly a young person from Germany raced off an off-path onto the piste and hit my husband,” says Christine Fuschlberger. Her husband suffered a spiral fracture of the fibula and tibia, a concussion including whiplash and crush injuries to his face. Two operations were necessary and the man from Salzburg is still in pain. “I was so sporty, I must have gained ten kilograms since the accident,” sighs the pensioner. The case is before the court. The young people’s family denied any guilt in the accident and blamed Fuschlberger for part of the blame for the fatal collision. Since then, your insurance company has refused any payments. The case is now also pending in court. “The legal fees alone amount to 20,000 euros,” groans Fuschlberger.
