Conversion at Vodafone Kabel: The TV frequencies are now changing here

VODAFONE CABLE GERMANY

Vodafone is converting hundreds of TV and radio frequencies in its network nationwide. The process takes longer than planned If you have problems with TV reception, a channel search can help.

  • Vodafone is changing the reception frequencies in its cable network.
  • Up to 350 channels are affected.
  • The large-scale process has been running since August 2022.

In our fault indicator for Vodafone Kabel, reports of problems with TV reception are currently increasing again. However, there is currently no known disruption. Therefore, the difficulties are probably related to a conversion in the operator’s network.

Vodafone’s cable TV network is currently being unified. To this end, the company is making changes to the reception frequencies. The changeover is taking place gradually and started in August 2022 in Nuremberg and is far from complete.

As is now apparent from information available from Netzwelt, Vodafone will clearly miss the self-imposed time targets for changing channels in its cable network. Due to two major interruptions around the 2022 World Cup at the end of last year and again from the end of January to the beginning of April 2023, it is no longer possible to achieve the target of completion in July 2023.

The reason is greater preparations than was assumed in the federal states of Vodafone West (formerly Unitymedia), namely Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia. The cable transmitter conversion will only be tackled there once the measures in the other federal states have been completed – probably in the second half of 2023.

Meanwhile, one thing is certain: the full digitization of cable radio will take until the turn of the year. The reason is the same here. In the other 13 federal states outside the former Unitymedia area, Vodafone had already completed the shutdown of the analogue radio signal in 2018.

On this Vodafone website you can find out when you will be affected by the changeover. According to the unofficial forum Vodafone Kabel-Helpdesk, the following regions will be affected by the changeover in the next few days:

Vodafone cable customers must take this into account when changing channels

So if you are currently unable to receive some channels via the Vodafone cable connection, you should not panic. A channel search usually provides a quick remedy here. Vodafone points out that in most cases the changeover will take place automatically.

If you use receivers from Vodafone, Unitymedia or Sky, you don’t have to do anything other than check the changes on the following day. If you use other devices, you may have to perform a manual channel search, as mentioned.

Also interesting…

The project is expected to be completed by mid-2023. Vodafone is also planning the full digitization of the radio service in the cable network in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Baden-Württemberg for mid-2023. All analogue radio stations will then be switched off. The digital activation of the radio stations in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Baden-Württemberg is already starting immediately, parallel to the changes on TV.

By the way, if the channel search does not bring any improvement, you can use our fault indicator to find out about possible failures in the Vodafone network.
