Cookie Cutter, the “techno-pop-punk” metroidvania resents the world


With its heroine far from the standards, the punk fury that emanates from it and its neat animations, this hand-drawn metroidvania undoubtedly deserved to be known. Announced on Steam for 2023, the game features Cherry, an android designed to entertain its creator, the brilliant Shinji Fallon, with whom she will fall head over heels. But when a villain ransacks her creator’s lab and captures the one who is also the love of her life, Cherry changes her tune and sets out to slaughter anyone who gets in her way, with the help of mechanic Raz, her only ally at the beginning of the adventure.

Inspired by fields as varied as manga, the films of Quentin Tarantino and HP Lovecraft, the game intends to be noticed next year within the cascade of metroidvania which come out each year. The authors announce “thrilling battles against a constant stream of bizarre enemies” and “a delirious story featuring eccentric characters and rich environments.“While unlocking new abilities thanks to her robot body, Cherry will be able to fight using chainsaws, guitars, plasma cannons, mecha fists or even motorcycles.
