Cookie Fries: The food trend makes french fries look old

We could eat french fries in the morning, at noon, in the evening and preferably three times a week. But also for dessert? Sure – like this!

Take care, dear French fries. You have a few copycats now – only they make the whole thing a little sweeter. We are talking about the treacherous "cookie fries". And what's behind it? Just imagine cookies disguised as fries and served for dessert. In short: cookies in french fries. The whole thing is of course not traditionally served with mayo and ketchup. Instead, chocolate sauce, jam or vanilla sauce are served for dipping. Sounds fat – it is too!

And who do we owe the delicacies to? The Americans, of course, who like to shoot the bird when it comes to fast food. There the trend triggered such a great hype that the wave and recipe have now spilled over to us. Thank you very much!

recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300 g of flour
  • 60 g powdered sugar
  • 120 g soft margarine
  • 3 tbsp applesauce
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed
  • 6 g vanilla sugar
  • 100-150 g dark chocolate chips

preparation

1. Mix the flour, powdered sugar and margarine in a bowl with a mixer at medium speed until you get a smooth mixture.

2. Add applesauce, flaxseed and sugar syrup. Then fold in the chocolate chips and knead in with your hands. The cookie dough should be significantly firmer than a cake batter. If it is still too runny, you can add more flour.

3. Place the finished dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 160 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

4. Roll out the cookie dough on a floured surface and cut into long strips. Thickness, length and shape can be varied depending on your preference. Put in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes (depending on thickness) until they are crispy.

5. Drape briefly and top with sauces of your choice – done!

When will the cookie fries be on our plate? On the next children's birthday, movie night or when you just want something sweet to snack on. Because actually it never needs an occasion, does it?
