Microsoft is preparing a new update for Windows 11, which will introduce a new feature allowing users to choose their chat provider for Copilot.
You probably already know about Copilot, this new addition to Windows 11 that can help users perform various tasks such as changing settings, launching applications or even answering your questions like ChatGPT.
Previously, Windows Copilot had two chat platforms: Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise. Bing Chat was intended for personal use and required users to sign in with a Microsoft account. Bing Chat Enterprise was aimed at businesses and required users to sign in with a Microsoft Entra account, but the two did not offer the same functionality.

Microsoft wants to improve Copilot with this change
Bing Chat Enterprise offered more security and privacy features, such as not saving chat data, not using the data to train artificial intelligence models and does not support chat history, third-party plugins or the Bing mobile app.
However, Microsoft recently rebranded both chat provider platforms as Copilot, and it now looks like Windows 11 will soon allow users to select their preferred chat provider in Copilot’s Settings page. It means that users will be able to switch between the consumer and enterprise version of Copilotbased on their needs and preferences.
The chat provider choice feature was discovered by Insider PhantomOcean3, who posted a screenshot of the Copilot settings page on X (Twitter). The screenshot shows the new option called Chat Providers, which allows users to choose which chat providers they have access to. The screenshot also shows a warning message that informs users that changing chat providers will delete all previous chats with Copilot.
This feature is especially important for businesses because it helps prevent potential data leaks that can occur when users copy and paste sensitive information into Copilot. By choosing the enterprise version of Copilot, users will then be able to ensure that their data is protected and is not shared with other people.
