Cora Schumacher: That's why it is so difficult for her to get to know men

Cora Schumacher wants to find the right man in her show "Cora's House of Love". Why is she looking for love on TV of all places?

Cora Schumacher (43) will be looking for a new partner in the dating show "Coras House of Love" (from August 21, every Friday on Joyn). In an interview with the news agency spot on news, she talks about the difficulties of getting to know a man and the advantages of a TV dating show. She also reveals how she used the time after her divorce from Ralf Schumacher (45) and what is important to her in a new relationship.

Why do you think a dating show can help you find love?

Cora Schumacher: I am a public figure. Whether in everyday life or on a reality show – it is generally difficult for me to get to know a man – Corona does not simplify this either. The last five years have been very tough for me. Now I am a very suspicious person for a reason. So of course I question what intentions a person pursues – in a potential partnership, but also in a friendship. Whether I sign up for a dating app or meet someone at the grocery store, the public will find out and debate. I find the way through a reality TV show to be more honest and sincere. And the advantage for me: The eyes of the audience usually see more than mine.

Why didn't you find a new love after your marriage?

Schumacher: After my divorce, I built a protective wall around me. I didn't want to let anyone get so close and intense to me anymore. I just wasn't ready to allow an intense bond. And if I don't expect anything, I can't be disappointed. You should first deal with yourself before getting involved in a relationship again. I wasn't an unhappy single. I used the time to deal with myself a lot and found myself. Now i am ready for a relationship.

What have you learned from your relationships, would you do something different in a new partnership?

Schumacher: There was a period in my life when I swore to myself that I would never be emotionally dependent on a man again. I am a very independent woman and I stand in life. I don't want that to be taken away from me in a new partnership.

Are you a relationship person or do you also see the advantages of being single?

Schumacher: Basically, I'm a relationship person. I like to do everything for two. But as a single you can deal with yourself intensively. There are a few advantages, but most of all I needed the time for myself and enjoyed it. I realized for myself that I don't need a man to be happy. I love who I am. And when you realize that you love yourself, then you can open up to a relationship again. The point now came for me when I thought that I would now like to have someone by my side who I can trust and who gives me support. As a tough woman, you sometimes need a strong man's shoulder to lean on.

Did you have any reservations about accepting the show?

Schumacher: I accepted directly. For every woman who is in public, it is generally not easy to find a partner. You always have to question the person's intention. The TV show also allows viewers and my fans to tell me directly what they think and who is best for me. The exchange with them is very important to me. I'll go live on Instagram with my best friend after every show to discuss the men with her. Occasionally we will also bring candidates and spectators into our conversation. I want us women to support each other and take care of each other.

How did those around you react, especially your son?

Schumacher: My loved ones and closest friends are looking forward to seeing the show to give me their assessments of the men. Of course you want to protect me. For me it is important that our son focuses on his goals and his motorsport. He once said aptly: "You are old enough, you have to know what you are doing." The children's own life should always be in the foreground and not the life of the parents.

How have you got to know men so far? Was online dating an issue for you?

Schumacher: I don't walk from one red carpet to the next. I live very withdrawn, do not go to clubs, but am a domestic person. I love the relaxation and peace in my garden when I cut my flowers. When I go to the supermarket or the garden center, it's difficult to actually meet someone. I've met and dated someone online before. It is generally difficult for me to get to know someone, so I go through my reality TV show and meet ten men straight away to find Mr. Right among them. When do you have such an opportunity (laughs).

What does a man have to bring with him for you, visually and in character?

Schumacher: I love to laugh. Humor is very important to me. When I drive into the drive-in of a fast-food chain and am asked what I would like to have, I have already said my standard saying: "1.89 meters, dark-haired, well-built, technically gifted and maybe tattooed ". (laughs) Right now I'm kidding myself. It's a nice package, but not enough for a deep relationship. A six-pack is nice, but a man doesn't have to have that for me. I also like to sleep on a soft tummy. I am impressed when a man sees my concern as his, helps me around the house and, for example, cooks something. I want a man who stands by my side, takes responsibility and wants that too. I turn a big wheel in the background and make my own decisions every day. I would like to consult with someone. If the lawn mower or something else breaks down, I am happy that it is technically gifted and can help me. I am happy about a small bouquet of flowers. I don't need a Gucci handbag. These little things of great importance make a man attractive to me.

Do you have quirks that a man has to deal with?

Schumacher: I love symmetry. With me everything has to be in its place and, above all, be straight. If one chair is not parallel to the other at the table, I have to move it straight away – regardless of whether it is with me or someone else's home. With me, everything really has to be in place. If I have a partner who uses the last piece of toilet paper or takes the last drink out of the refrigerator and doesn't refill it, I can't handle it (laughs).
