Core i5-13490F: Intel is preparing a new faster Raptor Lake, with more cache

Never short of announcements around its ranges of processorsIntel also has a knack for taking us by surprise with unexpected models.

In September 2022, Intel surprised everyone by announcing the upcoming release of a Core i9-12900KS with even higher frequencies. A few months ago, the American company renewed the experience with the Core i9-13900KS and its 6 GHz.

More L3 cache

Today, however, there is no question of ultra high-end or breaking frequency records. Still, the information will surprise more than one, because according to information from VideoCardzIntel would have the idea to offer a CPU interposed between the Core i5-13400 and the Core i5-13500.

The chip would then logically be baptized Core i5-13490, and the addition of the letter “F” after its surname means of course that it will be a model devoid of any graphic solution. Logically, the processor should be offered at a lower price than if it were equipped with this iGPU.

Of course, this Core i5-13490F has not yet been made official by Intel, and the following information should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. It is thus a question of a CPU equipped with 6 high-performance cores and 4 efficient cores, i.e. 10 cores and 16 threads, as much as the Core i5-13400F.

Up to 200 MHz more

More important, or more interesting, it’s up to you, the Core i5-13490F has a larger cache. The L2 level remains the same at 9.5 MB, but the L3 increases to 24 MB, an increase of 4 MB compared to its little brother, and we know the importance of the cache.

Additionally, the newcomer pushes the frequencies of the Core i5-13400F with a maximum boost frequency of 4.8 GHz, which is 200 MHz more. It’s as much as on the Core i5-13500 from which the latest from Intel also borrows the maximum TDP: at 154 W, we are 6 W more than the Core i5-13400F.

To attest to the existence of this processor, we only have CPU-Z captures on which it is also possible to discover a first measurement of its performance. At 779.7 and 6,834.5 points in single and multicore, the Core i5-13490F performs around 6 and 4.5% better than the 13400F.
