How do I grow plants in Core Keeper?
Of course, if you have played Minecraft, Valheim, or other similar games, you should normally have understood the principle very quickly. But if not, here are some tips to get your planting off to a good start in Core Keeper.
As you might expect, the first step is to find seeds. This is done simply by exploring the cave, whether by looting chests, collecting flowers or simply randomly. Once you have several seeds, and unlock the first crafting station, to obtain copper ingots, you can craft the following items:
- a hoe (4 woods, 2 brass)
- Watering can (4 brass instruments)
Then equip yourself with your hoe, and plow the ground at the desired location. Once the soil has been plowed (darker in color than normal soil), you will be able to plant seeds in it, by holding them in your hand and pressing the right mouse button. You can normally plant all basic seeds, except mushrooms, which can only be eaten and cooked.
Once the seeds are planted, you will need to water them. If the square has not received any water (before or after planting the seed), the seed will not grow. To fill it, just go near a water point and press right click. This is why it is important to build your fields near a water point.
Once these steps have been completed, you just have to wait a few minutes, about five, before you can harvest your supplies (left click). If the plant does not harvest, it has not yet reached maturity. You should also collect seeds, to replant them.
In terms of ergonomics, you can plant the seeds as you see fit, except for the seeds for wood (root seed). For these, you need to leave several squares of space for the roots to grow. You will be able to maximize their harvest and therefore have a nice stock of wood.
