For The ParisianCorinne Masiero returned to how this trauma had resurfaced so many years later.

I came across an old forgotten album that I had to keep unconsciously because there was a photo of me with my attacker. He was my cousin, he was ten years older than me, I must have been 7-8 years old… Then something very strong physically happened, an enormous feeling of disgust. The veil was lifted and I decided to do an analysis… It helped me a lot but it’s only the beginning… Little by little, flashes come back, it’s violent… Everyone has their own story, everyone takes their own path. There is no user manual, she declares.

For 50 years, Corinne Masiero remained in denial

For fifty years, Corinne Masiero will bury this terrible memory. In denial, the actress confides in how she was able to fight it: “It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s been a long journey. Incest has always turned my guts around and I wondered why. A few years ago, I started psychotherapy. I then called my family asking them if anyone had heard of something that had happened in the past. Illness, drama, suicide… I wanted to understand where this discomfort came from. I learned that three people had suffered incest at home. I reacted instantly and went to file a complaint…” Since then, the actress feels better : “It’s a release! As if three tons of cinder blocks had been removed from me. Since I’ve been talking about it, I’ve been helping people. As if the horror and this shit I’ve been through is finally for something . I get so many strong messages on social media. I’ve freed myself and freed victims by talking about it.”

The actress wants to help other victims

So with her report, Corinne Masiero wants to help other victims speak out : “Because we have to talk about it! Incest remains a taboo subject even though it affects nearly one in ten French people. Telling this horror can shock victims who are in denial. Like a click that lifts the veil on our memory and our trauma”she confides before continuing: “This click, it can happen thanks to the word. So, when you are lucky enough to be a little publicized like me, it is a duty to speak. If this documentary broadcast late causes a spark, if only in a person, it will be won”.

Corinne Masiero: “She questioned us in front of veils on which photos of us children were projected”

Happy to have been able to highlight her own fight, Corinne Masiero is proud of the project that has been carried out : “The director did an incredible job. She took it very slowly. She came to see me several times at my house in Roubaix (North) and, before, we talked a lot on the phone. She questioned us in front of the sails where were projected photos of us children. She let us talk and describe our rapes even if it was extremely violent. Because yes, a guy who puts his dick in the anus of a 6-year-old kid is unheard of, it’s is heartbreaking. But it helps to understand the pain of the victims and the horror they experienced. As one of the witnesses said: ‘The least we can do is listen to us’.”
