Flight attendants help out in the hospital

They were flight attendants, now they are nurses. During the corona crisis, two women changed jobs – to take care of corona patients at the Charité, among other things.

Esther Spille and Eflan Gül Kilic take care of other people's well-being full-time. But while they have been serving tomato juice for the past few years, they are now handing out tea and tablets.

Esther and Eflan were stewardesses. Then came the corona pandemic. Today both women work at the Charité Berlin.

Because while both flight attendants were sitting at home and feared for their existence, the nursing staff in the hospitals reached their limits. More and more corona patients were admitted. As a result, an unusual and yet obvious decision was made at the Charité: They asked for help in other service areas – for example with airlines. 54 stewards * now help out with the care. In the video, two of them tell what it feels like to change jobs.
