Regular testing has become part of everyday school life for children and young people. Schreiner Medical is now bringing Europe’s first CE-certified lollipop self-test onto the market – it should make the procedure much easier.

There are already numerous Covid-19 self-tests for children on the market. “Their main disadvantages are the limited reliability and a painful procedure when swabbing the nose,” said Schreiner Medical in a press release. Together with their partner company Amonmed, they have “developed a European-wide market-driven solution for both challenges – the first CE-certified pure lollipop test for at home”.

New corona test for children: Lollipop test has a test accuracy of 98.86 percent

According to the company, the test accuracy is 98.86 percent. According to a study by the Paul Ehrlich Institute, the lollipop test is one of the “top ten Sars-CoV-2 rapid antigen tests” in terms of sensitivity, according to Schreiner Medical.

The “Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kid (Colloidal Gold)” initially looks like a normal antigen test. The difference: the swab is not inserted deep into the nose, but moved around the mouth for ten seconds. The rest of the process is the same as for normal tests.

Corona-Lolli-Test is reimbursable in Bavaria

With approval for children from the age of zero, the test in Bavaria is even reimbursable. The dispensing takes place in pharmacies upon presentation of an authorization certificate. “The Lolli-Test is only just coming onto the market – and is already very well received. We are still looking for sales partners in Germany and Austria for this outstanding product with the unique selling point CE certification”, says Simon Schreiner, Managing Director of Schreiner Medical Message.
