Corona aktuell: Trick keeps mask clean longer

The mask has become an everyday companion in Corona times. There is a simple trick to prevent it from spinning out germs within a very short time.

The corona pandemic is creating completely new activities: People are digging out their sewing machines from the attic. Materials are rolled, masks glued, sewn and embellished. And when they are done, the real work begins. By that we mean: the laundry. As soon as we went shopping a few times, the mask needs to be washed again. Otherwise it will mutate into a spinner itself.

Fortunately, people are creative. There is a simple trick how you can extend the holding time of the mask. And everything you need to do this you probably already have at home. We are talking about a panty liner!

Panty liner as a mask helper

What are panty liners doing on the mouth? A whole lot. Because the thin fabric now protects us not only below, but also above. To do this, simply glue the panty liner into the lining of the mask. This can solve the basic hygiene problem of mouth and nose protection: the so-called moisture penetration, which prepares an ideal climate for all pathogens.

A panty liner can soak up our breath and the resulting moisture. As a result, the material underneath is ideally less stressed and stays clean longer. Because after wearing it, we simply throw the panty liner in the trash and with it all of our exhaled germs.

The insert should then, at best, be disposed of in a lockable garbage can, just like disposable masks. And as always, the following applies: Before and after putting on and taking off your hands, disinfect your hands well and never lay the mask with the inside on surfaces.

But be careful: even the thickest bandage does not help against pathogens that stick to the outer surface of the mask. That's why the mouthguard should of course still be washed regularly – you can find out how to properly disinfect the mask here.
