There was a corona outbreak in a daycare center in Saxony-Anhalt. 49 children are in quarantine after a photographer attended kindergarten.
After a long time at home, children can slowly but surely get used to the daycare again. For some of them, however, it is now again: quarantine. There was a corona outbreak in a daycare center in Riestedt, Saxony-Anhalt.
There was actually a big celebration ahead of them: The children are about to start school, it was their last time in the group, as RTL reported. To say goodbye, a sugar-bag festival should be celebrated. That will now have to be canceled – because a photographer had been booked the week before. And this has now been tested positive for the corona virus.
Is it the delta variant of the coronavirus?
As a result, there are now 49 children and six teachers: inside the Riestedter “Spatzennest” daycare center in quarantine. The order is valid until July 1st. Because they are all considered to be the contact person for the infected.
The photographer is said to have been abroad shortly before. For this reason, it is also in the room whether it could be the delta variant of the corona virus. This is currently spreading rapidly in many countries, and in Germany, too, the proportion of corona infections more than doubled within a week. The virus mutation is considered to be even more contagious than the original coronavirus.
It remains to be seen whether some of the children or educators have been infected by the photographer. The children affected should have the opportunity to have a PCR test on Tuesday. Their results are not yet known.
In this respect, it is first of all: wait and continue to be careful. Because even if the corona numbers in Germany are currently low, the delta variant of the virus in particular continues to pose a danger that should not be underestimated. Although fully vaccinated people should also be protected from the mutation – there are still numerous people in Germany who who are still waiting to be vaccinated. No vaccine has yet been approved for children under 12 years of age.
