Corona current: guest dies after wedding celebration

After a wedding celebration in Hamm, there was a major corona outbreak. Now a guest at the event has died after suffering from Covid 19.

It should be a beautiful, unforgettable celebration, given the circumstances. Now, however, a wedding in Hamm will be remembered with sadness above all. At the major event, which lasted several days, hundreds of guests were infected with the corona virus – now one of them has died.

Hundreds of corona infected people after the wedding celebration

The wedding celebration took place at the beginning of September and then made headlines nationwide. Because overall, over 150 people are said to have been infected at the celebration, which was spread over three locations in North Rhine-Westphalia. The corona outbreak threatened to paralyze Hamm, as tracking the chain of infection proved difficult. In the end, around 300 people were in quarantine in the Hamm area, as the Bild-Zeitung reported.

In addition, the guest list of the event turned out to be wrong and the organizers are said to have shown little cooperation. This made it difficult to contain the infections.

Woman dies after the corona outbreak

One month later, another tragic consequence of the family celebration comes to the public: A woman who was a guest at the wedding is said to have died on Monday from the consequences of the corona infection. She is said to have been around 40 years old and had no previous illnesses. Nevertheless, as the infection progressed, she was admitted to the intensive care unit. Now, according to information from the Westfälischer Anzeiger, the woman should have died.

This makes the visitor to the wedding the youngest victim of Covid-19 in the Hamm district. The death shows how drastic the consequences of supposedly harmless family celebrations can be.

Due to the increasing number of infections across Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel has now announced new lockdown measures. These should apply from November 2nd and help bring the spread of the coronavirus back under control.
