A little miracle baby was born in London. It survived blood poisoning as a premature baby – and became infected with corona.

Little Archie Edwards has been through more than anyone else in their entire life at eight weeks in this world. Now the boy from England is even making international headlines – because he is likely to be one of the youngest corona infected.

But back to the beginning: Archie already had a turbulent start in life. His mother suddenly became in severe pain two months ago and was hospitalized. Her son was born just an hour later – in the 25th week of pregnancy and therefore much too early. Among other things, the Daily Mail reported on the case.

Archie was born without a heartbeat

After the birth, it looked like the parents were about to lose their first child. Because Archie didn't have a heartbeat. The doctors fought for the newborn for 40 minutes. With success: from that moment on, the boy proved himself to be a little fighter.

After five weeks of ventilation and care in the incubator, the baby stumbled from one challenge to the next. First he was diagnosed with an E. coli bacterium that not only caused diarrhea but even blood poisoning. Then Archie tested positive for the coronavirus.

Then came the coronavirus

At this point in time, his parents feared for their son's life again – and could not even be with him due to the corona restrictions and were not allowed to touch him during his isolation time. But Archie continued to fight alone. He survived both infections.

Today the premature baby with its eight weeks weighs just 1.36 kilograms according to RTL – but he is almost never doing. His parents take turns visiting him in the hospital due to the contact restrictions, holding his tiny hand and waiting to finally be able to take their baby home with them. The doctors seem confident: Archie should currently be able to be released in March. Then the little family will be able to be united for the first time since the birth of the little one.
