After a party evening in a Karlsruhe club, around 50 people tested positive for the corona virus. This could now have consequences for the operator.

Even if strict conditions still apply, many operators are already luring people who are crazy about dancing into their bars. But a case from Karlsruhe shows that this can have consequences. There, the coronavirus was detected in around 50 guests after visiting a restaurant. The SWR and the RND, among others, report on this.

According to the operator, all hygiene measures were observed, and only a few people danced at their tables. This detail is indeed important because nightclubs where people can dance have different requirements than bars. The operator is also criticized because the contact documentation was apparently not carried out carefully. Only slips of paper were filled out and nothing was recorded digitally – and sometimes with false information, so that tracking the chain of infection was particularly difficult. The authorities are now clarifying whether there has been any misconduct on the part of the operator.

Operator defends itself against allegations

“We have met all official requirements with our hygiene concept,” the operator told the SWR. One hundred percent security when checking contact forms cannot be guaranteed. He also defends himself against hate messages that have now been received: “It hits me personally very much how strongly people interact against us,” ka-news.de quotes the club operator. He received personal hate messages, threats and Targeted bad Google reviews “If people could, they would lynch us.” The bar has already been equipped with air filters in the past, and further security measures are to follow in the future.

How did the outbreak come about?

So far it is known that the corona outbreak can be attributed to two individuals. One of them is a returnee from Mallorca, as the mayor of Karlsruhe, Frank Mentrup, explained. He calls for consistent testing for those returning from abroad.
