Mask requirement and distance rules did not help: In the town hall and in the municipal council of two Upper Bavarian communities, there were corona outbreaks despite safety precautions. Several people are infected, many more are now in quarantine.

It is now known that the workplace is a place where a comparatively high number of corona infections occur. That is why politicians and experts also recommend working from home if possible. Unfortunately, this was apparently just as impossible for some employees of the Aßlinger town hall as for the team of the Emmering municipal council. And so several of them are now infected with the virus, some more are in quarantine, and the town hall in Aßling is closed for the time being.

17 infected people after the municipal council meeting

As the “Münchener Merkur” reports, after a meeting at the end of April, the entire Emmeringen municipal council and some spectators had to go into quarantine – the reason: Shortly after the appointment, two people present tested positive for the corona virus. An infection was subsequently detected in six other members of the local council team, including the mayor of Emmering, Claudia Streu-Schütze. According to “Merkur”, all corona cases registered in the almost 6,000 souls community in the following days can be traced back to the council meeting – a total of 17 are known so far.

Eruption in the town hall of the neighboring community – connection likely

At the same time there was also an outbreak in the town hall of the neighboring community of Aßling, which is responsible for the administrative community with Emmering and Frauenneuhartin: Five employees there had been proven to be infected, as a result of which five others had to go into quarantine. Since there are always points of contact and contacts between the Emmering municipal council and employees of the Aßlinger town hall, a connection between the two outbreaks is likely. The mayor of Emmeringen, Claudia Streu-Schütze, for example, also has a job in the town hall. That was initially closed to visitors due to the incident.

Is the British mutant to blame?

According to the mayors, the fact that an outbreak could occur despite the mask requirement and distance rules in town hall and local council is due to the contagious effect of the British mutant, quoted “Merkur”. “It was probably unavoidable,” said Aßlinger Mayor Hans Fent about the outbreak in the town hall. Unless the infected had stayed in the home office.
