The summer holidays are just around the corner and many Swiss people are moving abroad again. It is important to note that.

While there are no corona restrictions in this country, the situation in Switzerland’s neighboring countries and other popular holiday destinations is very different. Anyone planning to spend their summer holidays abroad should therefore find out about the entry requirements and any corona measures. An overview of some popular travel countries (as of June 9, 2022).

Italy: Since June 1st Entry restrictions no longer apply, no Covid certificate needs to be presented. FFP2 masks are mandatory until June 15th in local public transport, in hospitals and care facilities, as well as in cinemas, theaters and concert halls.

France: For entry does it need a valid covid certificate or a negative PCR or antigen test not older than 72 or 48 hours. The last dose of the full vaccination must not have been more than nine months ago. Children under the age of twelve are exempt from the obligation to provide proof. Masks are still compulsory in healthcare facilities, otherwise they are largely abolished. Restaurants, cinemas etc. are open to everyone.

Spain: For entry from EU or Schengen partner countries no proof of vaccination or negative test result required. A mask must be worn on public transport, on airplanes and in hospitals, pharmacies and nursing homes. However, different rules may apply regionally, so it is advisable to carry a Covid certificate with you and find out about the regulations of the holiday region.

Portugal: Travelers aged 12 and over arriving by air or sea, must have a valid Covid certificate or present a negative PCR (valid for 72 hours) or rapid antigen test (valid for 24 hours). The rules also apply to the Azores, but not to Madeira. Masks are worn on public transport and in healthcare facilities.

Germany: The Covid-19 travel restrictions have been lifted for travelers from EU countries and Schengen associated countries. There are no longer national access restrictions for shops, restaurants and other establishments. Masks are still compulsory in health facilities, on airplanes and on public transport. Depending on the incidence, different rules may apply in the individual federal states.

Austria: There are no entry restrictions. The FFP2 mask requirement has largely been lifted, it only applies in health and care facilities. The capital Vienna is an exception: masks are still worn there in public transport and in pharmacies.

Greece: Since May 1st there is no corona-specific entry rules more. Masks are still compulsory in health facilities and in local public transport (metro, bus, tram, taxi). A mask does not have to be worn on trains, planes and long-distance buses. Restaurants, cinemas, museums and bars are open without restrictions.

Turkey: Exist since June 1st no corona-related entry restrictions more. There may also be random fever measurements at the airport, which will result in further health checks. Masks are only worn in healthcare.

Great Britain: Applicable in all four regions of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland no entry restrictions more. There are also no restrictions on access to restaurants and other facilities or a mask requirement. The government only makes recommendations on vaccination, face masks and other measures.

UNITED STATES: There are no local restrictions in the US. However, upon entry, in addition to the Esta form and a passenger certificate, the Proof of full vaccination be provided. From June 12, however, travelers will no longer have to show a negative coronavirus test. Masks are compulsory on the plane.
