Hertha BSC has to be completely quarantined

After a fourth corona case, all players and the Hertha BSC support staff have to be in a 14-day quarantine. As announced by the Bundesliga club, the club has applied for the cancellation of the games at FSV Mainz 05, against SC Freiburg and FC Schalke 04.

Now the Bundesliga has also got it: Hertha BSC has to go into a two-week quarantine after four corona cases and has the German Football League (DFL) postponing the games at FSV Mainz 05 on Sunday, against SC Freiburg (April 21) and requested from Schalke 04 (April 24th). In the relegation battle, the Berliners are threatened with a crazy deadline hunt at the end of the season.

“After consultation with our hygiene officer, we tightened the hygiene measures again during the last international break, and with it the hope that Rune Jarstein’s positive corona test would remain an isolated case. Unfortunately, this has not been confirmed,” said Sports Director Arne Friedrich and added : “Due to the cases that have occurred, we are now forced to a 14-day quarantine at home. This is absolutely the right step from a health point of view. From a sporting point of view, of course, we have six Bundesliga Games to be completed by the end of the season on May 22nd. “

All those affected are symptom-free

The Berliners initially confirmed positive tests with coach Pal Dardai, assistant coach Admir Hamzagic and offensive player Dodi Lukebakio. Marvin Plattenhardt also came on Thursday evening. All affected persons are symptom-free and were immediately separated. “We accept the situation despite the difficult circumstances and will throw everything in our power into the balance for a successful season finale,” said Friedrich.

Several second division clubs have recently been affected. Holstein Kiel, SV Sandhausen and Karlsruher SC are currently in quarantine. Detlef Wagner, district councilor for social affairs and health from the district office of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, had previously stated in the “Bild” newspaper: “There is no Lex Hertha – especially not from our health department. The only way out would be for the player to explain us credibly that he was infected from outside and has not had close contact with the team for three days. ” That was obviously not the case.

Probably no quarantine training camp

According to information from the sports information service, the DFL does not want to order any quarantine training camps for the professional clubs despite the news from Berlin. In addition, the association is also relatively relaxed about the rescheduling of Hertha games, as the Berliners are no longer in any other competition.

The day before, the “kicker” had reported a fire letter from the DFL to the professional clubs. Despite the threatening situation, the league association “only” reserves the right to hold the training camps. The DFL was particularly concerned about the repeated corona cases in the 2nd division.
