Corona numbers are increasing – tourism chairman: “curfew is a problem”

The Kitzbühler tourism chairman Christian Harisch spoke on Monday evening in the “ZiB 2” on the exploding numbers of infections and increasing incidences. He says: “The winter season is safe.” The main problem is the curfew at 10 p.m., which is why people then meet in the private area and get infected there.

Especially in the districts of St. Johann im Pongau and Kitzbühel, the number of infections has recently been through the roof – the incidence is almost 3300. Nevertheless, Harisch sees no problem in the hustle and bustle in the ski huts. You have to “fix a few things”, said the tourism chairman. Because the incidence would have been calculated on the basis of the number of inhabitants and in Kitzbühel, for example, the number of inhabitants would have tripled in the winter season. “Infections in the private sector” At the moment, however, the occupancy rate is far lower than in normal years, Harisch even speaks of a “January hole” after the Christmas holidays. The problem is not the illustrious hustle and bustle in the huts and après-ski, but much more the federal curfew at 10 p.m., for example on New Year’s Eve. Because that is why the party people met privately, where the contagions then happened, “and not in the hotels.” Harisch points out that the controls in the ski areas are very lax and that the Corona measures are not observed in the ski huts He does not see the fact that you can get a ski pass with a wrong vaccination certificate as a big problem: “We assume that people behave correctly.” is concerned, Harisch is confident. 2000 spectators are allowed, but you voluntarily go back to 1000. “We are concerned about the greatest possible safety, we test more than almost anywhere.” As far as the staff is concerned, one is behind the fact that everyone would be vaccinated. Harisch also advocates applying the relaxed quarantine regulations for people who have been vaccinated three times and also for those who have been vaccinated twice in order to prevent an impending shortage of staff in the catering and hotel industries.
