The numbers are falling and easing occurs – but Corona is not out of the world. There is now another corona outbreak on the popular holiday island of Sylt, which could have far-reaching consequences.

For a long time traveling was out of the question. But now the incidence value is falling while the vaccination rate increases. The result: Little by little, easing takes effect, restaurants and hotels are opening up – the travel bug is returning. A popular destination to unwind and enjoy the fresh sea air is Sylt. But on the North Frisian island there is now a corona outbreak for the second time within a very short time, which could have consequences for countless people.

Corona outbreak on Sylt: 1100 contact persons identified

Sylt has been welcoming holidaymakers again since May 1, 2021. In the restaurants “Vogelkoje” in Kampen and “Knurrhahn” in List, however, seven employees have now been tested positive for Corona, reports the “Sylter Rundschau”. This also has serious consequences for numerous tourists. Because the district of North Friesland has already identified around 1,100 contact persons who were guests in the restaurants and some of whom have already left.

A spokesman for the district announced that the contact person’s data, which came from all over Germany, will be sent to the health authorities in their hometowns, as reported by “ntv”. The persons concerned should be notified and, if necessary, sent into quarantine. A quarantine has already been ordered for 29 colleagues who tested positive and 55 guests from the Nordfriesland district. According to the district administration, this incident shows how relentlessly regular tests of the staff are.

Sylt: Second outbreak within a week

Last week it became known that a couple who were vacationing on Sylt at the beginning of May tested positive when they returned to their hometown. During their stay on the island, they had visited four restaurants and one service company. The result: around 300 people, including employees, customers and guests, were identified as contact persons and placed in quarantine.
