Obligation to test is being expanded: travelers returning from non-EU countries must undergo a corona test before departing for Germany.

The coronavirus will obviously have a decisive influence on travel behavior for a long time to come. As the "Spiegel" reports, the federal government is planning to make tests mandatory for all passengers from non-EU countries who enter Germany. Specifically, travelers must then undergo a test before taking off for Germany.

This measure is intended to prevent corona mutations from being introduced and, in addition, create a uniform regulation that is intended to relieve airlines, airports and the federal police. Rapid tests in particular can provide a result around 15 minutes after the smear has been taken. These could be done shortly before launch, the report said. The airlines should then only be allowed to carry passengers who have a negative test.

The measure should apply at least until spring. At a preliminary meeting for the telephone switch between Chancellor Angela Merkel (66) and the Prime Minister and in the so-called Corona Cabinet, it was said that this step had already been agreed.
