Corona virus: Nagger, this is not about YOU!

Yes, I know you heard that Corona is usually symptom-free in young and healthy people, that many don't even know they have it, and that hundreds to thousands die of flu anyway every year. And you think panic is over the top.

If it's none of your business: you're young and fit – and your likelihood of dying from Corona is estimated to be very low at this time. Congratulations! But I have news for you: Corona is not about YOU!

What the protective measures are really about

With all of the precautionary measures, politicians and medical professionals do not primarily think of you and people like you. They think of older people, of the group over 60, People with previous illnesses, people with lung diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases – People for whom the COVID-19 infection would be far more serious than for you! They think of people who need medical attention in the event of an infection in the hospital and who are much, much more likely to die from the corona virus than yours.

It's time to take responsibility – for others!

These people have to be protected – by taking care of people like YOU! By making people like YOU do everything to give the healthcare system time and keep your back free. Time to take care of people in need of help, time to find a cure, time to respond to the virus accordingly. And not by limiting yourself in an unreasonable way, but by simply not exposing yourself to unnecessary risks, by avoiding major events, by doing everything you can to avoid becoming a carrier.

Because even if you show no symptoms, you infect an average of 2.5 people in your immediate environment – and again 2.5 in their. These are your parents, your grandparents, your older neighbor, the colleague across the table.

Take a damn respect!

And are you sure that they will not be among the more difficult cases? That they can handle it so easily? That they are not among those who may not have enough beds, staff and medication in overcrowded hospitals? That they may not be among those who die from it? Or that your loved ones – regardless of Corona – are not among the people who, for whatever reason, have to be treated in the hospital, where all resources are tied up because of the virus – and they cannot be adequately cared for? Are you sure? No? Then, damn it, be considerate and behave responsibly!

# Quarantine, canceled events, #Ghost games in football: The #Corona virus has a firm grip on Germany – but many doubt the measures, speak of alarmism. In the long term, "as many people may become infected as without this containment, but this is how we slow down the spread significantly," says epidemiologist Marc Lipsitch in an interview with SPIEGEL. “First, hospitals and doctors in all countries have limited capacity, and we shouldn't blow it up. Second, every week we learn better which therapies work with Covid-19 and may find effective medications. If you have a choice, you'd better get sick in six months than today. ”#Flattenthecurve #coronavirus #gesundheit Grafik: @principleofcuriosity

Stay at home when you are sick or come back from a risk area, cough and sneeze in the crook of your arm, wash and disinfect your hands extensively, DO NOT steal disinfectants or respirators that others need moreBefore you visit your heart-sick grandmother, don't bunker food that others need, think about putting her at risk and see who you can help who is not as privileged as you.

Because: Corona is not about YOU! It's about our society as a whole – and its weakest! And here we can show as a community what it's really worth. It is high time to finally understand this and act accordingly!
