While the federal government sometimes gives the impression that the pandemic is over with the planned lifting of the corona protection measures, the number of infections in Germany is exploding and reaching new record levels every day. So caution is still the order of the day. In addition to wearing face masks, using the Corona-Warn-App has proven to be one of the simplest and most efficient methods to protect yourself and other people without much effort. So that it stays that way in the future, the developers of the application are now making further improvements with an update.

Smarter mapping of names
Until now, the Corona-Warn-App has automatically assigned vaccination, test and recovery certificates to different people if the first and last name were not identical on all documents. has dr Hans Peter Mustermann, for example, had his vaccination certificate for the basic immunization issued in his full name including his doctorate, but only registered as Hans Mustermann at the booster appointment in the vaccination center, the resulting certificate in the app could not be assigned to his person. The only solution was to have a new copy issued in a pharmacy. Annoying, but that’s over now.
Version 2.19 of the Corona-Warn-App filters out name suffixes such as academic titles during assignment and breaks down given first and last names into their components. If at least one first name and one last name match the information on other certificates and the specified date of birth is 100% identical, certificates with different name information can now also be assigned to a person.
