Corona warning app: Downloads already amount to 6.5 million

The Corona warning app published by the Federal Ministry of Health appears to be of great interest to the population. 24 hours after the software was released on Tuesday (June 16) yesterday, according to Health Minister Jens Spahn, it has already been downloaded around 6.5 million times. "These are well over six million reasons why the corona virus has fewer chances in the future," Spahn is quoted by ntv, among others.

"This strong start should motivate even more citizens to take part. Damming Corona is a team game," added Spahn. The main goal of the app is to be able to understand potential infection chains through voluntary information from the users. The high number of downloads is surprising, because many critical voices against the app were raised in the run-up to the release and feared possible security gaps regarding the user data.
