Corona warning app: Drastic increase in warnings

The Corona warning app is intended to inform users about contact with infected people. The warnings have increased significantly recently.

The current situation and a new record number of corona infections are currently calling politics into action. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports that 7,830 people were newly infected. The Corona warning app (iOS and Android), which is intended to warn of contact with an infected fellow citizen, has proven itself in the second wave of infections, says Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (47).

"The warnings are currently increasing dramatically, we are seeing a steep increase," said Braun of the "Rheinische Post" on Saturday. As of last Tuesday (October 13), 10,860 users had been able to send a corresponding warning to their contacts anonymously via the app. It is not known how many people were warned by it. For data protection reasons, such data is not recorded by the Corona-Warn-App.

An "important tool"

The German app is "by far the most successful corona warning app in Europe," according to Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (40) at the end of September. As part of a press conference on the subject of "100 days of the Corona Warning App", Spahn stated that the application had become "an integral part of everyday life in pandemics in Germany". He described the app as an "important tool" in the fight against the pandemic.
