Corona warning app: iPhone malfunction fixed thanks to update

The problems with the Corona warning app are from the world: As the Telekom announced, the iPhone malfunction has been fixed thanks to an update.

Now everything went really quickly: After the first rumors arose on Friday evening that the iPhone version of the Corona Warning app might not warn users in time due to a special feature of the operating system, Telekom has now given the all-clear. An update of the app, which has been available since Saturday afternoon, is said to have fixed the malfunction in the automatic background update. Thus, according to the app developers SAP and Telekom, all problems, both with Android smartphones and iPhones, are gone.

Previously, cases were known that the program only compared the data when the app was called up manually. This should actually be done automatically in the background. The developers blamed a bug in the iOS and special features of the Android operating system for the malfunction. Due to the iOS error, a data comparison was sometimes not carried out.

As a result, affected users were only warned many days late after they had already had contact with a corona infected person. With Android phones, there would never have been a real problem if all the settings had been set correctly. Nevertheless, those responsible improved with an update last Wednesday.
