Coronation of Charles III
Kate and William make a magnificent entrance
For the coronation of Charles III. Prince William and Princess Kate almost looked like a royal couple themselves.
Prince William (40) and his wife Kate (41) have for the coronation of Charles III. chose truly royal looking outfits. Above all, the Princess of Wales shone. She entered Westminster Abbey in a blue robe. Underneath she wore an Alexander McQueen dress in ivory silk crepe with silver bullion and thread embroidery. Special: The embellishments include rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs to represent each of the four nations of Great Britain.
She often wears Alexander McQueen
Prince William wore the ceremonial uniform of the Welsh Guards under his cape on the big day. But all eyes rested – as usual – on his wife. Kate’s dress was embroidered with the four flowers of the homelands – English rose, Scottish thistle, Welsh daffodil and Irish shamrock. Instead of a tiara, the future queen chose a matching Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headdress with three-dimensional leaf embroidery made of silver bullion, crystals and silver thread. Alexander McQueen is considered one of the princess’s favorite brands. She has worn creations by the British label on numerous occasions. Her wedding dress was also designed by creative director Sarah Burton.
Commemorating Diana and the Queen
Kate also pays homage to her late mother-in-law Diana (1961-1997) with her outfit: Collingwood pearl earrings were given to William’s mother before her marriage to Prince Charles in 1981. She also paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) by wearing wearing the George VI Festoon Necklace. The Queen got it from her father, King George VI. (1937-1952) received as a gift.
