Coronavirus: Blanquer specifies the reduction of the protocol at school at the start of the school year

PARIS (Reuters) – French Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer clarified to the press on Friday the terms of the relaxation of the health protocol planned in schools at the start of the February holidays, i.e. on February 21, February 28 or March 7 depending on the area.

“In primary school we are going to go from level 3 to level 2” for this protocol intended to limit the spread of the coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, declared Jean-Michel Blanquer during a press briefing in the ministry yard.

“The second degree, which had remained at level 2 (…), will remain so,” he added.

In practice, the “consequent” reductions mentioned by the Minister mainly concern, for primary school pupils, the end of the obligation to wear a mask outdoors as well as when practicing physical and sports activities indoors (except for contact sports).

At the same time, the screening protocol for contact cases will be lightened from February 28, “i.e. four weeks after the epidemic peak”, with a single test two days after contact, against three tests currently, as will also be the case. in the general population.

The Ministry of National Education also announces in a press release the lifting, from February 21, of the obligation to present a sworn statement justifying the carrying out of the tests so that the pupils can access the establishments.
