BionNTech boss Ugur Sahin gives parents hope: From June the first schoolchildren could be vaccinated against Corona. Admission for all age groups is planned for September.

In the current pandemic, parents are already at the end of their tether for many reasons – at least one concern could soon be taken away from them. The Mainz research company BioNTech announced that vaccine approval for school children aged 12 and over could be granted as early as June. In the fall, the vaccine will even be available to children from the age of six months.

“We believe it can be done quickly”

BioNTech boss Ugur Sahin was confident in a “Spiegel” interview that “things can now go quickly”. In his opinion, there are no risks for younger children either: “The previous observations on tolerability and effectiveness are encouraging.” For many parents, who are concerned about the number of infections in children and adolescents, this news is a glimmer of hope that perhaps at least one concern could soon disappear.
