Coronavirus: Denmark prefers sex toys to toilet paper – video

Toilet paper, yeast, noodles: Most of the listings of hamster purchases in the past few weeks are a bit sober. Of course, it is reasonable to have a supply at home to some extent. But doesn't anyone hamster things that are simply enjoyable in isolation? Yes, of course. Especially in Denmark, the shipping of sextoys is experiencing an unprecedented upswing.

Shipping warehouse in high activity

This warehouse in the Danish city of Aarhus doesn't look that exciting at first glance. Cardboard boxes and boxes stand around, goods are packed and ready for dispatch. If you take a closer look, however, you notice that this is about sex toys. And that is currently very popular with the Danes. While there is not much going on in the streets and in the offices because of the corona pandemic, it seems to be the other way around in the bedrooms.

"A little light in our life"

Mathilde Mackowski, co-owner of Scandinavia's largest sex toy provider "Sinful", can understand that: "I think we are currently buying more sex toys because we need a little light in our lives. We need more fun, we need more happy time that we can spend together. We all somehow need it and are hungry for it. We have to see people, we have to feel each other. We have to be much stronger than at normal times. " In the first week of April, Sinful's sales in Denmark increased by 110 percent, says Mackowski. The demand for products for couples is particularly high. Sex calendars that contain several products are also in demand. Around 1,500 parcels are sent to online customers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland every day. In other Scandinavian countries too, demand has increased significantly, according to Sinful.
