Not quite two years after the first lockdown, almost all corona measures in this country are falling. The obligation to have a certificate, wearing a mask in most places and the regulations for private meetings have been a thing of the past since Thursday.
The rest of the measures – the mask requirement in public transport and in health facilities and isolation regulations for corona positives – should fall by the end of March at the latest.
Actually, the Corona skeptics should be happy about it. But some don’t. They are still dissatisfied and are therefore taking to the streets again. “We’ll see each other in Zurich-Oerlikon on Saturday,” says the “Freiheitstrychler” telegram chat, for example. The “Action Alliance Urkantone” mobilized in a message for the approved demonstration next Saturday in Zurich-Oerlikon.
Opponents of measures fear “health dictatorship”
But what exactly is the problem of the corona skeptics? Very easily. For them, the story is far from over with the end of the measures. Telegram says: “There must never be a health dictatorship again.” The skeptics are demanding that the past two years be “investigated” and that those “responsible be held accountable”. In addition, some people on the Telegram channels fear that “a new pandemic will be conjured up out of a hat”.
Demonstrations against the measures took place on the streets of Zurich last Saturday. A counter-demonstration from the left corner was also on site. There were several riots between the two camps, and the police were at times seemingly powerless.
In the run-up, however, the opponents of the measure warned of the large counter-demonstration and called on supporters to stay away from Zurich and “rather prepare for the demonstration on February 19”.
City police are alerted
So, despite the measures being lifted, will there be another big skeptic demo in Oerlikon? The Zurich city police cannot estimate the size of the demonstration. “We cannot judge how great the mobilization potential will be after most of the measures have ended,” said media spokeswoman Judith Hödl when asked by Blick.
It is also difficult to estimate whether further demonstrations will take place in the future. “The Zurich city police are constantly assessing the situation and will be on site on Saturday with a corresponding contingent.” (chs)
