Corporate telecoms: so much more than telephones!

In business life, some things never change. Others, on the other hand, experience constant changes. The specificity of corporate telecoms is that they fit into both registers simultaneously. Some expectations remain unchanged.

This is the case, for example, of the issue of employee reachability or the availability of the switchboard. For SMEs, these two major concerns very often condition the company’s productivity. Paradoxically, these key issues are also the ones that are changing the most because, beyond business telephony and under the effect of IP convergence and the remoteness of telephony to the cloud, many uses and many functionalities have evolved.

Reinventing the telephone experience in collaborative mode

The adoption of the Cloud in SMEs has accelerated a large number of transformations in organizations. This phenomenon was considerably amplified during the health crisis which allowed the advent of remote work. From then on, the planets aligned to bring out new uses associated with corporate telecoms. Since physical fixed telephones were no longer accessible, solutions had to be migrated to ensure continuity of reachability first on smartphones, then on the laptops with which the employees were equipped.

For the first time, all of the functionalities related to professional telephony went beyond the walls of the company and no longer knew any physical limit.

From this reality, new expectations were born: organizing conference calls with several people, knowing the availability (and reachability!) of each other remotely, instant messaging solutions… Now collaborative work and business telephony have converged on computers. Do the classic functionalities of a switchboard therefore become obsolete? Quite the contrary! They contribute to strengthening the collaborative while abolishing the boundaries of physical presence, and remaining perfectly transparent for the customer.

Automatic callbacks, click-to-call, supervision, call interception, conversation recording, fixed/mobile convergence, consultation of voicemail by email… Business telephony has entered a new era and many features previously reserved to major accounts are now accessible to SMEs!

Always further in the quest for connectivity

While IP convergence has led to a procession of new possibilities and new uses in SMEs, the criticality of the issue of connectivity in the broad sense of the term has also moved the lines. As companies are increasingly dependent on connectivity, they can now have their own private 4G or 5G networks. The advantage? Become master of the quality of the network and the adaptation of performance to the real needs of organizations. The deployment of a Private 4G in the premises of a company makes it possible first of all to overcome the limits of sometimes deficient Wi-Fi coverage.

Private 4G indeed offers wider coverage than Wifi at the same power. It also makes it possible to offer a serious alternative to companies that do not yet have access to fiber optics by ensuring rapid deployment and controlled costs. Once deployed, not only will the new expectations related to telephony be met, but it will still be possible to go further and innovate by exploiting this connectivity for video protection solutions, or even quality control… So many perspectives which demonstrate the incredible potential of corporate telecoms.
