A few years ago, Logitech released an unprecedented mouse, the G Pro, a gaming mouse combining featherweight and wireless connection. Quickly followed by many manufacturers, the Swiss manufacturer then launched its G Pro X Superlight, betting on more lightness. It’s Corsair’s turn to prove that its know-how has nothing to envy to the competition, by offering an attractive Katar Elite Wireless in many ways.
Always lighter
The era of mice multiplying the buttons and making the whole thing heavier at the same time seems to be over. Modern gamers today are looking for more liveliness in their movements. Thus, the new Corsair gaming mouse has a weight of only 69 grams. That’s more than the 59 grams measured on the G Pro X Superlight, but it still puts the Katar Elite among the lightest on the market.
To achieve such lightness, there is no miracle recipe. The Corsair field mouse has a classic, almost ambidextrous design and has six buttons, two of which are on the left edge. No frills: the Katar Elite Wireless is content with the essentials.
Feature-rich
Despite its light weight, the Corsair Katar Elite Wireless does not sacrifice everything on the altar of the slimming cure. Inside, there is a 26,000 DPI Marksman sensor, capable of withstanding strong accelerations.
Wireless, the Corsair gaming mouse connects to a computer via its removable USB-C cable, via Bluetooth or via the house Slipstream protocol. With compatible computers, it will thus be possible to use the mouse without using the USB dongle, like the very recent Corsair Voyager a1600 laptop PC. In addition, it is possible to use only one wireless module to connect all compatible Corsair peripherals, enough to connect a mouse, keyboard and headphones without occupying all the USB ports of the computer. In wireless mode, Corsair announces up to 110 hours of autonomy in Bluetooth and 60 hours via the Slipstream connection.
Unlike its competitor Logitech, the Katar Elite Wireless allows itself to keep an RGB touch on the logo. It will thus be possible to configure the mouse and the lighting from the Corsair iCue software suite.
Price and availability
Already available from partner vendors, the Corsair gaming mouse has one last strong argument to make against the competition. Its very attractive price of €79.99 is significantly lower than that of a Logitech G Pro X Superlight, for example.
