Cosmetics with probiotics, these new treatments to discover

Discover microbiotic cosmetics here, a new generation of skincare products that have everything to seduce us … Especially during times of the year when the skin is particularly prone to aggression.

Every year, it's the same story: when winter sets in and the temperatures are coldest, the skin is put to the test. Dryness, imbalances, redness, loss of radiance, itching, tightness … In summer, the same observation: the attacks are quite different, but it is always the skin that is the first to be impacted. In recent months, these recurring and natural phenomena have been further accentuated by the wearing of a mask or even stress: additional attacks on the skin, which seems to have great difficulty in recovering from it. Fortunately, some beauty secrets can help us remedy this… You may already have known probiotics for their proven benefits on our intestinal flora, but did you know that they could also be beneficial for our skin and thus integrate our skin care daily? In this article, we take stock of this new generation of cosmetics that wants us well.

What is the microbiota?

Each of us has, since birth, what is called a microbial flora, in other words, several billion microorganisms, bacteria, fungi, yeasts … which invest our body, both inside and area. Thus, our skin is absolutely covered with bacteria, it is the skin flora, also called microbiota.
If the side of the intestinal flora, scientific knowledge is particularly advanced, with regard to the skin, so many possibilities remain to be explored! One thing is certain in any case: the tens of billions of bacteria protecting our skin flora are just as important as those which inhabit our intestines. For healthy skin that radiates beauty all year round, it is therefore imperative to ensure the balance of the microbiota, which is there to protect it from aggressions, infections, inflammation, premature aging, etc.

Why is the skin flora unbalanced?

While certain parameters – such as age, sex or genetics – are known to influence the balance of our microbiota without much we can do about it, other external elements are also a source of imbalance. Among them, we find for example the climate, pollution, stress, fatigue, or body temperature, but also the attacks that we "deliberately" put on our skin. Among the worst enemies of our skin flora, there is in fact the use of too aggressive products, which totally deteriorate the skin's balance, without sorting out the good and bad bacteria found there. Two main constituents of the skin barrier are thus directly impacted: the pH and the hydrolipidic film of the skin. In fact, it is a vicious circle: the more the microbiota is attacked, the more it is weakened, the more difficult it has to be reconstituted … Fortunately, this is where probiotics – capable of rebalancing the skin flora – come into play .

Microbiotic cosmetics, what is it worth?

Probiotics are living microorganisms that were previously possible to take in the form of food supplements, to be taken as a cure (as one would with vitamins, for example). However, recently, new possibilities have opened up to us. Indeed, brands have started to introduce probiotics in the formulation of some of their cosmetic products, for an ever more stimulating and protective action of the immune system of the skin flora. Using them on a daily basis considerably promotes the microbial diversity of your skin by strengthening the proliferation of good bacteria. The results thus obtained promise to be considerable: not only for people prone to skin problems (eczema, acne, rosacea, skin dryness, etc.), but also for all those who want skin radiant with health and beauty (one cannot 'not going without the other).
